Welcome to issue 82 of the Mudhutter, a fanzine so celebrated that we’ve never even been nominated for the FSA Awards, let alone shortlisted, even though we faithfully bung a load of copies in the post every year to their head office in [checks notes] Sunderland. Hmmm……anyway, seeing your lovely, grinning faces heading over that bridge towards us on matchdays is all the reward we need.

So, yes welcome to our World Cup special where we haven’t even mentioned the World Cup. Because we are vehemently opposed to the brutal regime in Qatar. Or we completely forgot about it, you can decide. So what is in there? Well, there’s 44 pages including more obscure hobbies from Bernard Long (its turning into his memoirs if we’re honest), a trip to Knebworth, revisiting the Phoenix Stand, Subbuteo, a critique of our lovable neighbours and all the joy they bring into our life, Latics scapegoats and loads more.

You can pick a copy up in Wigan Central, Waterstones or the Brickmakers Arms as before. We are also now selling at Anderton’s Sports Bar, The Anvil and Real Crafty Bar. If you want a copy sending in the post, you can buy one in the shop and we still have a few copies of the last one available to buy in the shop individually or take out a full season subscription

We’ll also be selling before the home game against Watford. Let’s face it, you’re going to need something to read. And bring some change for God’s sake, it seems some of you appear to be of the mistaken opinion that we have moved our operations into the 21st century.

Best wishes

The Mudhuts team
